Thanks for the great guidance. I was dreading this job but it turned out to be easier than I expected thanks to the video. The screw on a 987.2 is a Torx 15. I only went so far as to adjust the length of the existing elastic by putting the screw through a different slot in the elastic. I removed the screw to do this, but in hindsight I probably only had to loosen it to change the slot that was used. My elastic was still somewhat stretchy. I can always do the elastic replacement if needed in the future.

It’s a pity the chainsaw fairy could not pay that tree a visit one night! Great project, you know the Ecoflow Powerstream is a great grid tied inverter.

I've been toying with buying a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2.1 210 CDi but it is wheelchair adapted, I want to convert it into a campervan, but after looking at your videos, it looks like a big and costly job, I'm not mechanically minded, is it expensive, difficult and even worth considering. the 2.7 is not immune from IMS issues, not until the Gen2 987 were the engines replaced. those are reliable. anyway great car it's still beautiful.

My 1997 986 does not have the elastic held with a torx. It only has one Velcro loop. I'm assuming it was an early production model. And yes, it does have this issue but only on the US passenger side where the cover has pulled away from where it gets fastened to the end of the steel wire. Needs to be sewn back in place, not easy to do in such a tight space.

Hi mate, Thanks for nice and informative video. Would you be able to advise me on following. I’m going to install carpet lining in my 2016 renault trafic van. The problem I have is a interior lighting. I want to replace original lights with led ones. Original ones have a 3 wire connection but new led lights only has 2 wires which is positive and negative. Do you know how to connect 2 wire lights to 3 wire light system ? Many thanks
